Annual All-Day Singing
 

The 14th Annual "Marilou and Don Jolly Memorial" All-Day Singing will be held on Saturday, July 24, at the Porter House in Old Poway Park, 14134 Midland Road, in Poway, about a 25 minute drive up I-15 from downtown San Diego. Map   Registration begins at 9am, singing from 10am to 4pm, with a break at 12:30pm for Dinner-on-the-Ground.   Local singers are encouraged to bring a dish to share for the pot-luck (Keep in mind that kitchen facilities are limited, so bring your own ice chest.)

Associated Activities

In addition to the All-Day Singing at Old Poway Park, everyone is invited to join us at the following activities on this weekend:

  • Saturday evening dinner and social at a local restaurant, TBA
  • Sunday morning singing at the Adobe Chapel in Old Town San Diego, from 10am to Noon.
We are very excited about our singing location in Old Town, and hope that you will join us to experience singing in this charming room.    For folks coming from out of town, Old Town is at the intersection of I-5 (to Los Angeles) and I-8 (to Arizona), and convenient to both the airport and the train station.
 
The chapel is located at 3950 Conde Street, in Old Town San Diego. Map.  Free parking is limited in the area, so come early, or be prepared to pay a fee for parking.
  • Sunday luncheon at Coyote Cafe in Old Town San Diego.

Local Hotels

The  Poway Country Inn (now a Best Western) has been a favorite with singers coming to Old Poway Park.   At 13845 Poway Road in Poway, it is only 1.3 miles from the park itself, about a 25 minute walk.  

Other hotels in Poway:

Hampton Inn and Suites San Diego - Poway, 14069 Stowe Drive, Poway.   Room rate starts at $126/night.

Ramada Poway San Diego North, 12448 Poway Road, Poway.  Room rate starts at $72/night.

San Diego is, of course, a popular tourist destination, even for non-Sacred Harp singers.  There is a wide selection of hotels and motels throughout the area.   If you have a car at your disposal, you may wish to stay closer to other attractions (e.g. Old Town San Diego, where our Sunday morning singing will take place).
